Sections of the different stomach compartments of a ruminant Across from top left: Rumen, Reticulum, Omasum, Abomasum
Ruminants are a class of animal that digest their food through fermentative digestion. This allows them to digest feeds which are indigestible to monogastrics - like us.
Microbes including bacteria, fungi, protozoa, and even viruses work together to break down the structural components of ingested plant material. These microbes live in the rumen and reticulum of the animal. These compartments are known collectively as the ruminoreticulum and are the first compartment into which food enters. The major by-products of microbial digestion are Volatile Fatty Acids (VFAs) which are free fatty acids which pass through the wall of the rumen and are used for energy by the animal.
Protein in the feed is used by the microbes for their own reproduction and growth. The animal gets protein from its feed when the microbes pass through the next section of the stomach, the omasum (where water is absorbed), and on into the abomasum. The abomasum secretes acid to kill and digest the microbes which have passed from the ruminoreticulum.

If you thought the post on twins sharing consciousness was awesome, wait until you hear this.

A 44-year-old French man one day went to the trip to the doctor’s because he felt a pain in his left leg. He’s a married man with two kids and a steady job.

Doctor’s found that he had hydrocephalus as a child (when your brain is filled with fluids) so they decided to run some brain scans.

What they found was that the majority of his head was filled with fluid. Over time, the buildup caused his lateral ventricles to swell so much that his brain had been flattened to a thin sheet.

Doctors estimated that his brain mass had been reduced by at most 70%, affecting the areas in charge of motion, language, emotion, and, well, everything.

Shockingly, he was fine. While his IQ was only 75, he wasn’t mentally challenged. He held a steady job, raised a family, and didn’t have trouble interacting with others.

Over time, his brain had adapted to all that pressure, and even though he had fewer neurons that most, Jacques was still a fully functional human being.

The doctors drained the fluid and while his brain is much smaller now, he is still a healthy individual with a normal life.

WHAT IS THE FUCKING POINT

YOU COULD BE A FUCKING BADASS DRAGON THAT’S THE POINT

"I AM A CREATURE OF DARKNESS" "oh hey sabrina."

I guess the point is that you could shapeshift into the body you always thought you’d grow into when you were a kid
taller, shorter, slimmer, more muscular, purple hair, tattoos everywhere, tattoos nowhere,
every single shoe would fit you every single time you tried it on, every single article of clothing would fit your perfectly, all you have to do is transform slightly, you’d never run out of ‘your size’ again
and you wouldn’t have to work for it at all, and you’d never be limitted by your bone structure or something. You could just transform at will.

I don’t see how this is much of a downside
When you turn into a sixty story tentacle demon and terrorize a city you want to get the credit you deserve

Oh man that would be so sweet. I could be an annoying fuck as an insect or something but you couldn’t kill me because everyone would know

you would be really good at doing cosplay
